Hi Guys,
This one is really bugging me. I got my NF7-S on Friday, installed my stuff, updated the bios to d19 and went about installing WinXP Pro SP1. Even though I wasn't using it, I had S-ATA enabled in the bios as I wanted to get it detected properly during the install. So I pressed F6, loaded the drivers for my Highpoint card and for the S-ATA and everything went fine, no problems what so ever... a dream install. So Sunday comes along and I'm using the PC and think to myself, "Hey, the s-ata is still enabled... Perhaps I should disable it, save resources". Mistake, Big Damn Mistake!!! I go into the bios and disable it, Windows starts to boot gets to the 'windows is loading' screen.... and REBOOTS. Crap, whatthehell was that! I'm sat there watching it go back through the 'is loading' screen again, and it reboots... again, and again, over and over. Finally I go into the bios and re-enable S-ATA, and windows loads fine after complaining about failing to load previously. I've tried to disable it many times in the past two days, uninstalling the drivers for both sata and the highpoint, etc. nothing. This is now bugging me... A Lot. Can anyone offer advice on this one?

Greg
PS. This also occurs when not overclocking.

I am going to guess that since you loaded the drivers doing the F6 bit, Windows thinks it needs those drivers to boot. I am not good enough with Windows to try hacking around in the boot.ini but its probably something in there that you need to change to have it point to the IDE controllers. I know one way for sure but you aren't going to like it....reinstall windows this time not installing the sata drivers during install.

:-) Yeah, a reinstall really would suck... but I'm game for tearing chunks out of the boot.ini. Now where'd I leave that sledgehammer?
