I have been having trouble with the sound on this board. When I looked on the Nvidia web site I found that they had posted an earlier set of the drivers (2.03 instead of 2.42). Has there been a problem with the drivers? and why has there been no discussion on the News groups of this Issue?. I have solved the problem by putting a Audigy 2 card in but this issue should be properly discussed instead of being ignored by Abit. Paul

I think aBit have the 'capacity' to handle one problem at a time.... at least the are very good about RMA's for motherboards with bad electrolyte.

The major issues fot THOSE drivers (2.41 & 42 ) are corruption of files (nvata.sys and other system files) and (I've heard) audio problems.... By the way, you can find a plethora of articles over the web that prove how those drivers are less performing than the 2.03. So...if you installed those drivers....follow the instructions on nVidia site and remove them. Hope, this helps.

IIRC using the 2.42 driver set the clock doesn't keep perfect time. I am using the nVidia 2.03 nForceII driver set except for the sound driver which I obtained from the abit IS7 driver page. The file is called wdm_a344.exe and will overwrite your existing sound drivers with something more compatible with games and stuff. http://fae.abit.com.tw/download/drivers/ac97/alc650/v344/

I am currently downloading wdm_a345 to give that a try.

I used to have crackling sounds in games like bf1942 where it crackles after random amount of time but tried the fix in the link below, which fixed my problem. http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11366

btw I'm using the 2.03 driver set.

What problems are you having actually? which OS you using?

Hi
Thankyou for your replies.
I,m using XP Home and the main problems was breaking up and distortion of sound when playing CD,s, sudden losses of sound in games or crackling noises. These problems improved greatly when I reverted to the 2.03 drivers but by then i had decided to get an Audigy 2. Paul "hotshoeshuffle" wrote:
