It's strange but Winamp works flawlessly and most games (except Enter the Matrix) and MIDI works fine most of the time, but occasionally (and maybe only w/certain MIDI compositions) outputs strange sounds (screeches, and sometimes musical sounds). These problems never occured w/my Soundblaster PCI64, Soundblaster PCI128, Soundblaster AWE32 or Soundblaster AWE64 w/the same MIDI compositions.

System specs:
Windows 98SE

DirectX 9.0

Radeon 9500 Pro (overclocked to 335 core, 317 memory). AGP voltage at 1.5V (these overclocked settings worked fine on my ECS K7s5a). Catalyst 3.4.

two 512MB Corsair DDR 2100 o'clocked to 148Mhz (1.8V DIMM voltage)

Athlon Tbird 1.2Ghz o'clocked to 1480 Mhz (10 * 148Mhz FSB, 2.0V Vcore). Swiftech MC-462a w/Tornado 5600RPM 80mm fan (44-45 degrees celsius at idle)

IBM 80GB drive
Maxtor 20GB drive

I've attached a heatsink to the S. Bridge and Arctic Silver III to the N. Bridge heatsink

The system has an Enermax 431 Watt EG-465-VE(FCA) PSU w/the dual fan config (one fan takes air from below the PSU [i.e. where the CPU resides]) and the other is in the standard location. Apparently, this PSU is AMD-approved.

try turning off hardware acceleration in volume control- I also think there may be a software fix
