Noisy Fan (???)

    Hi,

    I am such a newbie; please excuse anything that makes me sound like an ignoramus.

    I have a Dell Dimension 8400, Win XP Home SP3, Pentium 4 (3.00 GHz), 3 GB Ram.

    My computer has been terribly noisy recently. From what I gleaned on the posts here, I ran the diagnostics. It told me all was working fine. I know this is not true!

    I ordered a new fan--refurbished. I just installed it. It is not quite as loud now, but still fairly noisy. Is there anything else I could change out to reduce the noise?

    Could the cause of the noise be something different?
