Odd IE Behavior - Insp 4100

Discussion in 'Dell' started by Jim Haselmaier, Jun 29, 2004.

  1. I recently rebuilt my Inspiron 4100 laptop. I reformatted the drive to get
    a very clean install.

Since then IE has had some odd behavior: When downloading software from a
website it will occasionally "hang". The system doesn't hang. IE doesn't
even really hang. I get the dialog boxes to specify where I want the
download to be saved. When there doesn't seem to be progress downloading, I
cancel the download, try again, and usually it works.

I don't get what would be causing this. Might I not have a driver for my
hardware? I *assumed* the XP disc that came with the system had all
necessary drivers already on it. Is that a pure vanilla XP disc and I need
to load all of the Insp 4100-specific drivers on Dell's website?

    Thanks.

    Jim

If you are on a broadband connection, go to either
www.broadbandreports.com or www.dslreports.com and work through their
    connectivity tests and adjustments.

You still need to load Inspiron drivers off the drivers CD that came with
the machine - Never ASSUME anthing
