Over discharged R51 battery

I guess I forgot to turn off my machine before leaving for a 24h trip.
When I started the machine, it started booting up, then suddenly quit
before I had time to connect the charger to the outlet.

Now, the battery is totally empty and won't charge. I get the blinking
yellow light. The battery was otherwise in good condition, few cycles.

    Is it hopeless? Thanks.
