I have a brand new Asus P4R800-VM that has some issues with the front panel\nsound connections. The first is that I can't get the front Mic to work at\nall. The case (Silverstone SST-LC03-B Lascala Series) has three wires,\nMIC-IN, MIC-POWER, and GROUND. The board's relevant connectors are labeled\nMIC2, MICPWR, AGND, and +5VA. No idea what the +5VA is used for, and I\nhaven't tried connecting it.\n\nThis is what I connected:\n\n(Silverstone case connector -> Asus P4R800-VM connector)\n\nMIC-IN -> MIC2\nMIC-POWER -> MICPWR\nGROUND -> AGND\n\nwith no success.\n\nThe I tried removing the MIC-POWER connection on the advice of a Usenet post\nI found, since I am not using powered mics. This also didn't work. I\ntested the mics I am using on the rear mic connection, and they work fine.\nThe board uses a SoundMax digital audio system that is built in. Any ideas?\n\nThen, after fooling around with the mic problem for a while, then the rear\nspeaker out stopped working! After trying a few things, I finally\ndisconnect the front speaker out connection, replaced the jumpers, and now\nthe rear speakers work fine. Is there any way to get the front speaker and\nrear speaker connection to work at the same time? Here is how I connected\nthe front speakers:\n\nR-OUT -> Line out_R\nR-RET -> BLINE_OUT_R\nL-OUT -> Line out_L\nL-RET -> BLINE_OUT_L\nGROUND -> AGND\n\nWell, as I redid everything very carefully to write this post accurately,\nnow both the front and rear speaker outs are working. Still have the mic\nproblem, so I will post anyway, and maybe this will help someone else.
