Pentium 4 650/651 diffenences

Discussion in 'Intel' started by Craig Robison, Jun 20, 2006.

  1. Hi gang,
I am new to the ng and I apologize if you have already been down this road.
I am trying to figure out the differences between the Prescott (P4 650) and
Cedar Mill (P4 651) generation CPU's. I am wanting to upgrade my system and
the motherboard (an Asus P5WD2 Premium) appears to support either one. The
prices are almost identical on these processors, so I am trying to figure
out which one to get. I understand that the 651 is newer and runs cooler
BUT what else...? Is there a down side to the 651?
    Thanks
    Craig

I believe that the 6x1's are also the version of Pentium 4 that had the
"No Execute"-bit anti-worm protection feature in it.
