    Hi Everyone,

I have a Presario 1240 that was on loan to someone and was returned dead.
It is possible that it was accidentally plugged into the wrong power
supply (the supply from a printer was returned with it instead of the
Presario supply). I've disassembled it in hopes of finding a user
replaceable fuse, but the only thing that appears be a fuse is a tiny
rectangular chip soldered onto the motherboard near the external power
jack. It is labelled with a voltage and current rating (I think 125V 5A).
Are there any good repair guru's, forums or websites out there the can
tell me if there is any hope at troubleshooting and repairing it myself?

Do you see the BIOS screen? Can you bootup from the floppy or CD rom? If
none of this exists then it may have been dropped/bumped.

Nope. It won't even begin to power up. It doesn't even have a power
indicator light when the AC adapter is plugged in. I suspect some fuse or
other failure in the main power section of the motherboard or the battery
    power converter/charger board.
