I have just purchased an ABIT IC7-MAX3 and have a question, I have a new hard drive with a serial converter attached and it is attached to sata 1 via the supplied cable. The only problem is that the bios does not detect the hard drive, at the minute all I have done in the bios is selected optimized settings and changed nothing else in the bios. Do I have to change anything else in the bios for it to detect the hard drive, I would be grateful if someone could give me step by step instructions how to set this up. By the way when I have the drive connected the hard drive light stays on all the time, if you need any more info I will gladly reply, thanks in advance.

Got to the Abit forums at www.forums.abit-usa.com

In the Intel Chipset Socket 478 motherboards section is a sticky thread the details all the steps you need to follow.

Thanks but that link does not seem to work, I have also read back quite a few weeks and found somebody with a similar problem, the solution is you must have a serial 2 adaptor, I dont know if mine is a 2 or not, can you tell by looking at it whether it is a two or not, could this be my problem.

Sorry, I mistyped the link:

You do need a Serillel 2 for the IC7. If it came with the board it should be the right one. If not, you can find photos at http://www.abit-usa.com/

I don't know what operating system you are running, but if it is XP, try setting to enhanced on IDE control setting in Bios.
