Portege 3505 button for lid

There is a tiny black button on the upper left side above the keyboard that
is pressed in when the lid is closed and it shuts down the computer.

Does anyone know how to disable it?

I would like to use the computer at a desk hooked up to a monitor, mouse and
keyboard and would like to be able to close the lid just to protect the
screen and continue to use it as another PC.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  3. This button does not put the machine in standby, it
    merely turns the screen off.
What your problem is is that the toshiba power profile
software is set to go to standy when the lid is closed.
    To change this:
On the taskbar, double-click on the icon that looks like
a lightbulb (it controls the power profiles).
Here, you can customise each profile by
    clicking 'details...'
'When i close the lid' is under 'system power mode'
