Power saving problem with Intel D865PERL board

Discussion in 'Intel' started by Michael.Baggarly, Jan 4, 2005.

  1. I have Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 installed. I have an
issue getting the PC into S3 using Windows. If I use
Start->Shutdown->Standby, the fans will not stop turning. If I use a
utility called Sleeper by PassMark Software, the fans will stop. I have
the latest BIOS version and have set fan controll in the BIOS to allow
    the fans to stop.
Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Michael Baggarly

  2. I think that Windows controls the Standby Settings, not the BIOS. Windows
XP is built on Windows NT, which writes to the hardware (including the power
    control) directly.
