My V5000 Presario Laptop suddenly developed a screen problem. The display looks "jumbled" for lack of a better term... similar to an incorrect display refresh setting. I got it home and connected the second monitor to the system. It works fine. Using the second display I discovered that if I shut off the desktop background image the primary display improved greatly .... just some strange color effects remain.... looks like a 8 bit color depth. My machine has ATI Mobility Radion Xpress 200 Series video driver and has worked perfectly until now. Note the Compac Splash/boot up screen looks fine. Problem appears only when Windows XP(home) starts.
