Ever since installing XP Home, my scanner work at about 1/4 the speed it operated at under Win98 and now I've noticed that I can type this message while the image is scanning. I couldn't do that under Win98 as that O/S gave all the CPU power to the scanning process.

How can I tell XP to give all the CPU time to the scanner so I can get this darned thing scanned?

I use a Mustek 600 III EP Plus scanner connected to the parallel port.

I had to purchase a new scanner after installing XP Pro. The Scanner Manufacturer did not have software that operated under XP. It was also a parallel scanner but PrimaScan brand.

Check the settings in the BIOS; try EPP+ECP, v1.9 for the parallel port.

I suspect, however, that it's a driver problem. Go here:

Okay. I think I use ECP 1.9 now, but I'll try the other.
