Hi!
My configuration:
MB: Abit IS7-E (BIOS updated to 1.4),P4 2,53 MHz (533 MHz),512 Kingston CL3,Caviar 80MB,Hercules 9100 64MB, Chieftec 360W, WinXP Pro+SP1
I got the problem:) The computer is rebooting, in unexpected moments. I don't know what to do. I checked it with other RAM and other P4 and with GF4 but crashes was again. How can I solve the problem? What else should I check? Maybe my mainboard is broken??? What do You think? Help me, please! Thank You! PS. Sorry for my mistakes, but my written english suxx:))

I doubt the board is broken. if you read up on the IS7 and IC7 series boards, you will find that the ram can frequently benefit from increasing the DDR voltage to 2.7 or so.

Thank you very much, tomorrow I'll change the Main Board to another, then we'll see what could happend. I'll increase the voltage too. Greetings.

I've gotta one more question
Is it safety to increase the DDR voltage?
I don't want to burn my DDR RAM
Greetz.

I had heard that many users of IS7 got similar prolem as my. The computer was rebooting in diffrent moments. They said that the mainboard got the BIOS which not works properly.ABIT should improve the BIOS software. Do you know something about it?

I don't have any issues with my IS7 and I don't believe there is an outright issue with the bios. a bios can always be improved but these boards are known to be sensitive to the DDR causing issues.

I'm sure Abit will come out with additional bios sets for this board but you might also need to adjust the DDR voltage... even with the newer bios sets.

I increased the voltage to 2,7v but it doesn't helped.
Maybe try 2,8v?
What do you think, Tom?

assuming the problem is with the ram, it could help. what is your setup in the bios for the cpu and ram? are you using a default setup or user define?

Settings for cpu and ram(changed: voltage increased from 2,6v to 2,7) are default (auto)

Someone told me that changing settings in Game Accelerator section in BIOS, can help, but i don't know what exactly should I set.

actually, the game accelerator could make things more unstable if you set it to something other than Auto if you are already having stability issues.

at this point, if raising the DDR voltage does not help, then you have to do something to determine if the instability is the ram. given that all I have ever heard of causing instability on this board is the ram, I am betting that is it.

one way would be to substitute the ram with another set of ram. if that is not possible, then another approach would be to set up the cpu using User Define and then set the NB to 800 (I know you have a 533 cpu based on your post) and then select a ram ratio of 5:4 which would slow the ram down. if the ram is the stability issue, then it should improve with the slower ram ratio.

swapping out the ram is the best bet.

Hey Tom!
Today we changed the mainboard to some MSI (865PE) mainboard and IT WAS THE SAME! System was rebooting!
ABIT is ok:)
We changed the settings in Control Panel (WinXP) (don't boot if error appear, just show Blue screen) And it's worked! The computer show "blue screen"
It was: BAD_POOL_CALLER and bla bla bla (contact your reseller bla bla) Do you know what is it? I think it's WINXP(+SP1) error not my ABIT mainboard! Greetings!

so what have you proved? that it wasn't the mainboard. so now you have to swap out the ram as that is a component that I originally suggested may be the source of the problem.
