Question about Pentium M vs Mobile Pentium 4 - M

I get that the Pentium M is the Centrino-style chip, and is faster than it's
CPU speed designation relative to the older Mobile Pentium 4 - M.

What I want to know is, what are the equivalences? At one time I read that
the Pentium M was equivalent to its rating plus 1 GHz, i.e. a Pentium M 1.5
    GHz was equivalent to a 2.5 GHz Mobile Pentium 4 - M.

More recently I've hear this figure put at .5 GHz, so that a 1.5 GHz Pentium
    M was equiv to a 2.0 Mobile Pentium 4 - M.

    What the generally accepted measurement?

Also, apart from battery life and running cooler, what are other advantages
    of Pentium M?

Yes, that helps. Especially the comparison to your T30 P4-M 1.8.

I'm guessing that the half a gig is the most accurate suggestion os relative
speed of processing. this means maybe stay away from the P-M 1.3, stick to
    minimum of 1.5.
