LS,

I have KT7 / Tbred @ 2222 MHz, 512 Meg PC133, MSI GF4 MX440 64 MB, 4x agp.

When I try to run some new games like TOCA racer or the latest Collin Mcrae, I always get the same situation. The intro (a movie most of the time) plays. But when the real game starts, it just quits to desktop. No error appears, just back to desktop.

All original games with original CD's, no cracked stuff.

Older games like Half-life, Quake Arena or Unreal Tournament run great. Also benchmarks like GLexcess or 3D mark 2001 run perfect.

I tried it also at all default clock speeds, but no go.

Are there known compatibility issues with the KT133 chipset?

I really got no clue.

Thanks,

Mike.

The MX cards and VIA chipsets don't always play nicely together. Check the video section at http://www.sudhian.com/showfaqs.cfm?fid=2 for some suggested remedies.

Might try 2X AGP instead of 4, disable fast writes in bios, etc. (Won't hurt performance much but may increase stability.)

Do a clean install of the latest drivers (uninstall the current drivers first, then put the new one on. Follow that with the latest VIA 4-in-1 set (AGP only if you prefer) and reinstall DX9.

Game settings could also be the culprit. Can you get into the options without launching the game, edit an .inf file, etc?

Could also be a refresh rate problem. Using display properties, go into every resolution you use when gaming, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, etc., and manually set a refresh rate you know the monitor can handle. If the game allows you to set refresh rates, make them match.

I think there is an update on the microsoft site for this type of problem but only if you are using winxp
