Radeon 9200SE, but No 3D HW accel?

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by David Whitney, Aug 10, 2004.

  1. All:

    I have a Gigabyte-labeled Radeon 9200SE video board, which I
understand to be a 3D board, in a WinXP box that's otherwise running
nicely. The problem stems from the fact that a kids game I tried to
install fails because it says there's no 3D hardware; the SiSandra
utility suite tells me the same thing.

I've heard about a similar problem some people have had with this
board in some Linux setups, getting no 3D acceleration under X
Windows, and it turned out to be some sort of bug in the hardware
detection - not sure if it was the card returning incorrect or
misleading values, or the detection scheme not asking the right
    questions...

At any rate, if anyone has some ideas on what might be going on, here,
    I'd appreciate it!
