I pick up a lot of cheap old laptops for educational purposes. Now I have a Compaq Armada V300 that shipped with only 32 mb of RAM. According to the specs this is just ordinary SDRAM but for some reason the computer won't work with any comparable memory from any other source, even working modules from other similar laptops. The only memory it will accept is its original 32 mb module. Does anyone know anything more about this? Is there something unique or strange about the V300. I swap RAM modules all the time without problem and this is the first time I have run into anything like this.
