"RED State Exception" on a v240 - what does it mean?

    Hi,

Some time ago I bought a used v240 on Ebay to use as a server. It initially
worked well enough, for long enough for me to set it up as I wanted it and
put it into the rack in a datacenter. Just about as I wanted to put it
online, the PSU failed, so I had to replace that. (Interestingly, it turned
out the cheapest way to get two replacement PSUs was to buy yet another used
    v240...)

However, after switching the server on again with the new PSUs, it turned
out it wouldn't boot anymore. Before the operating system is even loaded, I
    get the following error message:

    ==============

This gets repeated about once every five seconds.

What does that even mean? And what can I do about it? Do I need to replace
    the motherboard now?

  2. Try reseating the CPU or CPUs. Do the memory at the same time and see what
    happens.

A RED State Exception condition is most commonly a hardware fault that
is detected by the system. There is no recoverable information that you
can use to troubleshoot a RED State Exception. The Exception causes a
loss of system integrity, which would jeopardize the system if Solaris
software continued to operate. Because of this, Solaris software
terminates ungracefully without logging any details of the RED State
Exception error in the /var/adm/messages file.
