Reinstalling soundcard software.

Some files in the soundcard software are corrupted and I would like to
know if it would be safe to reinstall the soundcard software over the
    existing installation.
I would normally uninstall and reinstall but the software is not listed
in the Add/Remove programs list which suggests to me that there may be
    some caveat's to respect!
Can someone suggest what the best way would be to restore the files?
