I have the NF7-S and just bought a new 80 GB drive. I initialized & formatted it into 3 partitions using XP. The question is why isn't this drive seen during the startup as being on the primary SATA channel where it is located? Is it because it is partitioned? I can view & use it in Windows.

It should come up, I think you mean when the computer start up and tell you what drives it got ? I expect you know that the Sata drives comes up after the main bios, it should be there.

on my IC7 board, if the raid bios is not enabled but the SATA controller was in raid mode as opposed to just IDE mode, then the drive did not show at boot time. I either had to have the SATA controller in enhanced IDE mode or in raid mode with the raid bios enabled and in those two settings, the drive was declared at boot and available in a DOS session as well. in the other modes where the drive did not declare in the bios screens, the drive was also not available during a DOS session.

Yes, what you say is correct. I did some more digging & found a suggestion that maybe the jumpers on the HD were not right. I cchanged them to a single drive & now it is recognised in the BIOS. Thanks. "AD C" wrote:
