SheepShaver and Mac OS ROM

While trying to install Mac OS 9.0 from CD using SheepShaper, it
starts the install and then about five seconds later, SheepShaver
crashes. Since I have a OS9 CD that is not specific to one Mac, my
number one suspect is the Mac OS ROM. SheepShaver's FAQ lists the
versions of the ROM that are compatible. However, how do I determine
what Mac OS ROM I am using? Command-I on the ROM does not provide
this. We did download Mac OS ROM Update 1.0 via a link on
Uneasysilence from apple.com and used TomeViewer to extract the actual
    ROM.
    Could there be another culprit?
I set the RAM to 256 MB and the OS9 volume to 512 MB.

That's the same ROM I'm using, and SheepShaver is working for me. I have
a 1GB hard disk image; I don't know if that matters or not.
