    hi there

    i want to launch a an applescript application twice. so, in the shell i
    tried
    $ script.app &
    and again:
    $ script.app &

    that works fine. BUT: it works only when i don not terminate the shell in
    between.

    so my question is: how can i invoke an application from a shell and then
    quit the shell without waiting for the end of the script? are there
    shelloptions for that?

    You might try using nohup(1):

    nohup script.app &
