I was having some problems with my motherboard, and went into the menu and selected, Restore BIOS defaults and Restore CMOS defaults. Now, when booting up, I get Floppy Disk Failure (40). Can someone tell me what happened and how I can correct this.

thank you,
Geo

Sounds like it's trying to boot from floppy.
I think you should go into your bios settings and change the first boot device to your HDD.

that would indicate that either the floppy drive has really failed for some reason or that the ribbon cable has been plugged in backwards.

I suspect a drive failure. I once installed the ribbon cable in backwards and usually what happens is the drives light stays on.

no argument... unless he had been in there messing with the cable then it would likely point to a drive failure or the power being accidentally pulled from the drive.

Try clearing your bios.
