I am trying to install the sound driver that comes on the mobo CD on Windows 98 SE for a new Abit NF7-S rev 2.0 mobo and it installs two devices correctly:

NVidia NForce Audio Codec Interface
NVidia NForce MCP Audio Processing Unit (Dolby Digital)

BUT...

When I double-click on the NForce tray icon it gives an error messsage "Failed to initialize the NVidia audio driver: Please reinstall"

and I did try that (I installed it over itself) but I still have the same problem. What is going on here? Is there still a device that isn't being installed?

try using the realtek drivers instead of the ones on the cd. It fixed a lot of problems regarding sound that I encountered under Win98SE

Hope it helps :o)
