System fans speed control in 280R/SB1k/SB2k

Discussion in 'Sun Hardware' started by Kirill Ponazdyr, Jun 17, 2005.

  1. Hi,

Is there a way to controll the speed of system fans (CPU fan in
    particular) on E280R / Blade 1k, 2k platforms?

We would like to slight lower the treshold, forcing fans to rotate
faster (Noise is not an issue).

This summer some of our machines approach CPU die temperature of 80c
while CPU fan is just at 40%, which seems a little lowt.

    Kind Regards

  2. Is it? I thought 80c was the target for the die temps.

    $ /usr/sbin/prtpicl -v -c temperature-sensor
    cpu0 (temperature-sensor, 3d00000478)
    :Label Die
    :HighPowerOffThreshold 110
    :HighShutdownThreshold 90
    :HighWarningThreshold 88
    :LowWarningThreshold 0
    :LowShutdownThreshold -10
    :LowPowerOffThreshold -20
    :TargetTemperature 80
