ThinkPad T30 2366-41U ThinkPad T30 2366-41U ThinkPad T30 memory issue

I have a ThinkPad T30 2366-41U and I tried doing a memory upgrade. It
already has 512 so I purchased the exact module to add to the second
slot - this is what happens:

System Properties stated 512 of RAM showing.

I reseated the modules - no dice.

I booted the laptop with the one memory module in each slot - if I have
the memory in a particular slot; I just got a bunch of beeps. The other
slot came up fine so this rule out bad memory.

What it looks like - one of the Expansions Slots is bad.

Have you ever seen this? Is there a quick fix?

What would you recommend?

Sounds like you need a new sysboard. Have you ran diagnostics on it
yet?

Known problem with the T30 model Thinkpads, one memory slot can't read
512MB, or sometimes any, added memory.

There was an extended repair warranty that recently expired for this
problem, but you can't lose anything by contacting IBM repair and lodging a
complaint.

 

A piece of cardboard under the memory slot cover to push gently the
memory module did help with me !

 

HMMM - how thick was the cardboard? I'm going to try that

I tries 4 diffrent thicknesses with no luck

I'll I'd probably just buy a 1G RAM module and stick it in the good
slot.

1. is that possible without braking anything?
2. Could anyone recommentd a 1 GB moduale for my T30 2366-41U?

Any cheap PC2100 stick will work just fine.
