Define boot problems. Does it freeze, spontaneously reboot, lock loading Windows, what?

Such problems are often symptoms of a faulty or underpowered psu. A list of your hardware would help.

Another likely culprit is ram. Are your settings all by SPD? All GAT settings at auto?

You can try raising the CAS from 2 to 2.5 or 3, and increasing the voltage one notch on both the cpu and DDR.

Hi!
We I Got:
Intel P4 3.0 Ht 800
Corsair xms 3500 434 Mhz 2x256 MB
Nvidia quadro 550 Xgl
Midiman Delta 44 Soundcard
Seagate serial ATA 160 GB
(running Win xp pro o)
Godd powersupply ( new one and the other was good but too noisy) The problems is when i start the pc it cant find my hd so it cant boot when i reset it starts and it never hangs or so its not a big problem but i built pc for 10 years now and i think this is strange. Tommy

almost sounds like the hard drive isn't coming ready in time for the first boot. have you run any kind of drive fitness test on the drive? look to the manufacturer for a software bundle to test the drive.

Could he set a delay IDE in the BIOS? This delays for a user selected number of seconds to allow drives to "come ready".

Just a thought,

Mike

It does, and the OP should certainly give it a try.
