I am considering upgrading my KG-7 RAID system from the current XP1800+ to an XP2400+. Is this, as I believe, the fastest processor this board can take? I am not interested in overclocking, I just want to move up before the chip is dropped (I tried to upgrade my works system, only to find that the best chip it could take was no longer available).

Has anyone any tips for this upgrade? Tried and tested settings? Advice?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but I was looking for a "straight out of the box" answer. Like I said, I'm not interested in overclocking or suchlike.

I have a KG-7 RAID and threw a 2400+ in mine. I already had the latest BIOS so I didn't fool with that. Worked fine right out of the box. Check out Wes' link, I think I used a 9X multiplier (according to the BIOS) which actually comes out to a 17X multiplier, so I am running at 2266MHz (133fsb) at stock voltages. It's stable as can be. I got mine at Newegg for about $85 I think.

Good luck,
Joe

dropt one in mine bios says unknown cpu @2000 mhz d8 bios I think anyway works fine . Raised the fsb to 140 for 2100mhz no prob so I put in a 512 stick of pc2700 mem raised fsb to 145 still working but a little flakey so im still whacking away NoJOB@aol.

OK I have a question .....Video card ? Right now IM using a MX440 SE 4X dual vga, Now I see the ATI cards say they are 2X4X8X the nvidea cards say 8X Will the 8X cards work on a 4X mobo ? I know the video card issue has been kicked around for a while but I dont want to waste any $$$ Also considering upgrading from Win 98 to XP but IM getting lazy and dont want alot of hassels..... 8X AGP cards are backwards compatible with 4X motherboards. For full DX9 support and best performance with all the AA and AF eye candy turned on, get a Radeon 9500 or better. A 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro are competent cards for under $200. The best deals at the moment, IMHO, are the 9700 and 9800 non pro cards (avoid the crippled SE models,) which can be overclocked to 9700 or 9800 Pro speeds.
