USB2.0/Firewire external large hard drive ?

    Since my Dell Precision 340 won't support a large hard drive (400GB) if installed at the motherboard connector (it only allows up to 137GB), I was wondering if I can plug in a PCI card with USB2.0 and Firewire ports and use an external hard drive case to use the 400GB.

    Will it work ? any help before I buy the card and case ?
