I've got a BX6 R.2 MB. I used to have an Abit utility motherboard monitor and my CPU Temp was about 40 C. I upgraded to XP and the motherboard monitor would not work. I downloaded the latest Dr HW for this board and kept getting a driver failure - doesn't seem to function with XP.

I downloaded a couple of other MB monitors and they say my Motherboard temp is about 40 and my CPU temp is 120 C - Gawd - is that possible - I have a temp prob coming right out of the exhaust from the cpu fan and it measures 40 C. - and yes - the fan is running.

I just can't believe this thing could be that hot - I've felt the CPU and it doesn't seem hot.

Any suggestions on getting the Abit utility to work with this board? Maybe the sensors screwed up - anyone everhad that problem before?

thanks for any help.

Use MotherBoard Monitor (MBM), forget the ABIT HW monitoring program. Make sure you configure MBM correctly and everything should be fine.

Download from http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

This is the de-facto standard in free pc hw monitoring utilities

Good Luck!

Dan0 -

Thanks for the reply - yeah I've got the MBM and another one - they both show these very high temps - in the 125 C range. I felt the CPU and it just feels warm - I think it may be the sensor - I'll probably live with it. Thanks again for the adivice.

Make sure you have the correct winbond sensor selected for the CPU.

Hi,

it's worth spending some time familiarising yourself with all the options in MBM 5. I suspect you have the wrong settings selected for the sensors. . .

After installing MBM go here http://mbm.livewiredev.com/comp/abit.html where there is the list of sensors on tthe motherboard, so you can rightly adjust the setting of the software.

There is a wizard available which does the dirty work for you when installing MBM. I just recently downloaded MBM to debug my SE6 and was amazed by the way too high temperatures I first got to read. Luckily I was familiar with the most common installation problems (wrong sensors) with MBM and I also knew about the list, so I went back in the net to find it. Then I accidentally bumped into the wizard and decided to give it a shot. It worked perfectly.

In the FWIW department, I just installed MBM and I get exactly the same temp and voltage readings as Abit's HWM. All things being equal, I prefer the HWM format. Tom KG7-R XP1800 with OEM heatsink/fan...no overclocking. CPU at 45C with 76F room temp. Windows XP Pro

G'Day Tom,

I run an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ with an aftermarket heatsink and fan. It lowered my CPU temp 5C from the factory heatsink/fan. I am now running at 53C/127F on my CPU with room temp at 23C/73F. Seems your temp is fine.

Cheers,

Billy
