VT7 and X-fi problems

I have a ABit VT7 motherboard a ATI radeon X-1650 graphics card ad a Sound Blaster X-fi Platnum audio card. When I plug in the X-fi card into any slot, it hogs the system resources and the graphics card shuts down. I can only get a 640x480 4 color mode. I have tried several graphics cards but end up with the same problem. The 2 cards worked with an older Soyo Dragon motherboard.

Any Suggestions?
