I need to replace my HPT366 controller with one of these cards:

Zoltrix ATA-133 RAID (0,1,0+1) Speedway (Silicon Image) MSI ATA-100 MS-6915 (Promise)

Which one do you recommend? Are there any known problems with these cards on Abit BH6? First one is newer and probably slightly faster, has RAID (which I don't need at all!), but second card has *Promise* chipset.

Configuration
=============

Cel366/192MB
Abit BH6 1.0:
PM: CD-ROM Teac 32x 532E-B (ATA-33)
SM: CDRW LiteOn LTR-48125S (ATA-33)
AGP: Riva TNT 16MB
PCI 1: - (next to AGP slot)
PCI 2: SB16
PCI 3: HPT366 (not for long!)
PCI 4: Lucent 56k
PCI 5: -
HPT366:
PM: HDD WD800JB 80GB (7200rpm, 8MB, 8.9ms, ATA-100 EIDE)
SM: HDD Quantum FB CX10.2A 10.2GB (5400rpm, 512KB, 9.5ms, ATA-66?)

TIA,
jsmith

Perfect reason not to buy one then. Get a HighPoint RocketRAID 133, or, if you don't need RAID, the cheaper Rocket 133. The HPT37x is one of the best regarded controller chips, and if you need support on it, there are plenty of people here with bags of experience of these controllers, thanks to Abit using them on their boards over the past few years.

Since when did HighPoint get better than Promise?

Since the 2.x BIOS & driver builds AFAIC.

So - the _new_ Highpoint controllers are better than the _new_ Promise controllers?

Okay - I was just wondering. In the past, no one in their right mind bought Highpoint if they could afford Promise - there were no comparison.

I took Zoltrix ATA-133 RAID controller (there were actually no alternatives to these two cards!) and already have a problem. I am trying to use hibernation on my ACPI compliant system. Hibernate mode under power management is checked and ACPI is enabled. It seems that Win2k cuts the power before the drives are done flushing their write buffers (well, according to the noise), HDDs are then turned back on, "Hibernating" dialog is shown and system is finally shut down. At power up, Win2k hangs while restoring previous system state and on next boot (hard reset) it complains about corrupted hiberfile. OS is Win2k Pro Build 2195 + SP3 (fresh install).

Has anyone seen this or know how to fix it?
