window position

    IIRC, in Classic if I changed the size or position of a finder window, I
    wouldn't have to make that change the next time I opened that window.

    In Tiger, if I double click the HD icon, sometimes the window will not
    be entirely visible, so I drag it toward the center of the desktop. The
    next time I double-click that icon, the window may again be partly off
    the display. Eventually it may open correctly.

    What causes the window to open in a position other than where it was
    when closed?

    And if anybody knows the answer to that, maybe they know why so many OS
    X windows are staggered when their last closed position is full screen.
    Like in Finder. Totally irritating. Totally ridiculous.
