    Hello,

I have an ASUS A7V600-X VIA KT60 motherboard on a home built system. I have never had any problems with it, but i was testing some ram yesterday from (someone was throwing a PC out) and when i plugged it in and turned it on, the classic acrid burning smell appeared. I took out the Ram and it certainly smelt nasty, but now my system wont even boot up to the bios settings, the monitor just idles (and it is working fine).

So, is it likely that the mother board is beyond repair? or do you guys have any suggestions?

    Cheers for any advice,
