I have an X8ST3 with an i7 920 @ 2.67 Ghz but even with 24GB memory I run out of power when running multiple Linux VMs (under Linux). the manual says it supports 3600 and 5600 xeon processor family.

    Can I put a xeon 5690 or 3690 @ 3.5Ghz in the board?

Will there be much of an increase in power or heat?
