You're in for a treat. That's a Tbred B core. Look at the L3 bridges and
you will see a laser cut on the first one that opened it. Well, you need
to open the 3rd and last (L3-3 and L3-5). This will set the cpu default multiplier to 13.5. After you've done that, just plug it in and reboot. Should come up at default 2000MHz (20x100). You will probably want to raise vcore to 1.65v or higher if you have a stability problem. See multiplier cross ref in link below. That's an older cpu (0251) and not the best stepping, but I don't think you'll have a problem with 2000MHz. Might want to raise vcore to 1.75v before you shut down, just in case. If you have a boot problem, remove the power cord for 15 seconds, then power on holding the Insert down til it beeps, then go into cmos and set everything and save it.

Learning from the mess made previously what is the prefered method of track breaking, and how hard a force is required.

With the below layout, L3 Bridges area looks like below

? : : : : :

I am assuming the L3-1 is literally the first ':' on the chip and not counted from the single point?

Thanks

L1 ` : : : : :
L3 ` : : : : :

Start counting from the left. First : is Lx-1, etc. Hopes this shows right.

Wes,

What sort of results can one expect if the track cutting is incomplete?

Please note this is an XP1800, the exact same model as Joe's from previous post, but its going into my KG7-Raid Rev. 1.02 (I think it is) board.

I thought I'd done it correctly, however the system refuses to load, even resetting the BIOS doesn't have an affect. Could it be that the memory or some other part of my system is simply unable to cope with the increase?

What result would I get if say, L3-3 was cut but L3-5 wasn't? and visa versa.

Thanks,

Mark
