Adobe Acrobat (CS3) freezes trying to scan from HP

Hi, Since I got a new iMac with Snow Leopard, I cannot scan from my HP Photosmart C4280 into Adobe Acrobat Professional. At first, my iMac would not even see the scanner; this changed when I installed the new HP drivers for this scanner, but now Acrobat freezes whenever I try to scan PDFs into it. I can scan PDFs into Photoshop, but only one page at a time; I don't get the Acrobat feature of scanning one page after another into the same PDF. Any ideas?
