Where can I find a TPM module for the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard?

I have tried Amazon, eBay, ASUS, various sellers, and general web searches. The board has a 20-pin connector and those are plentiful. The issue seems to be that the M5A99FX uses DDR3 memory. I am finding all kinds of modules for DDR4, but nothing for DDR3. I don't understand the technical differences between DDR4 and DDR3; does it matter.

    Any suggestions are welcomed.

    Thank you

Yes, your ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 motherboard does support a TPM module, but finding the right one can be confusing. The board has a 20-1 pin TPM header, and the module must match that connector and interface type.

    1. DDR3 vs DDR4 – Does it matter?
The TPM module itself does NOT use your system RAM, so DDR3 vs DDR4 is not directly related to TPM operation. However, many newer TPM 2.0 modules are designed for modern DDR4-era motherboards, and they may not be compatible with older boards like yours.

    2. What TPM module you need
Your board is an older AMD AM3+ platform, so you need:
    • 20-1 pin TPM module
    • LPC interface (TPM-M type)
    • Designed for older ASUS boards
Modern modules like SPI TPM or 14-pin TPM will not work, even if they look similar.

    3. Where to find one
    Search using terms like:
    • "ASUS TPM-M 20-1 pin module"
    • "TPM LPC 20 pin ASUS"
    • "TPM-M R2.0 ASUS 20 pin"
    You’ll usually find them on:
    • eBay (best chance)
    • AliExpress
    • Old-stock computer parts sellers
    4. Important Reality Check
Even with a TPM module installed:
    • This motherboard is not officially supported for Windows 11 TPM 2.0
    • Compatibility is uncertain.
You should look for a 20-pin ASUS TPM-M (LPC) module, not DDR4 TPM modules. DDR3 memory isn’t the real limitation — motherboard age and TPM interface compatibility are.

If you want, I can suggest exact TPM models known to work with this motherboard.
