I am currently in Jakarta, Indonesia where all things are copies, most 3rd world countries only deal in pirated software. I've purchased a few games here and my computer read them fine, but once I upgraded my BIOS some of the newer DVDs burnt to disc wouldn't read anymore. The reason I upgraded the BIOS was because I bought a new Core 2 Duo 3ghz CPU, and when powered up the system said it needed a BIOS upgrade to recognize the CPU for it's full potential.
The BIOS version now is v02.58, and the prompt to upgrade the BIOS is still there. My questions are - would a BIOS upgrade affect the DVD RW from reading certain discs? If so, how can I fix this problem? Oh, and how can I get rid of the prompt?
