compatible processor

hello, i'm tuning up an eMachines T2385, and I have a compatibility question. I just installed an Imperial 137001 motherboard, which is OEM for the machine the original processor is a Celeron 2.3ghz I had a P4 1.6ghz in my bag of tricks and swapped it out, resulting is somewhat improved performance. I now can pick up a P4 2.8ghz, but I don't know if it will run on the imperial board. there's very little stuff out there about imperial boards will the 2.8 work on the new board? thanks
