Dell C610 Will Not Standby

When I close the screen on my Dell C610 it doesn't enter standby the screen doesn't even turn off.

Windows is set to enter standby when the screen is closed also it's set in the BIOS.

Can't work out how C610 works out the screen is closed?

Worked out whats wrong the metal block is missing from the left hand side of the lcd case.

Not sure where I'm going to find one
