Ok, here's the scoop and all the steps that have been happening from the beginning...any suggestions?

    1. about a half glss of wine was spilled on the key board area in the lower left hand area, mostly right above the card slot.

    2. the computer was taken apart and allowed to dry. it appears as though no wine was contained by the keyboard seal area (so there wasn't any in that part of the motherboard area) but there was some on the card slot and maybe a little by the memory slots (in the middle under the touch pad).

    3. after drying, the computer was put back together and powered up. The BIOS came up and said that we needed to reset the date and time. This was done, saved, and the computer started the rest of the boot up process.

    4. The windows screen came up and programs started to begin loading.

    5. before it completed loading up the whole way, the computer beeped once and shut down.

    6. now, when we try to turn on the computer, it stays on for about 3 seconds, beeps once, and shuts down.

6a. took the battery out and tried with just the power cord - same result
6b. took out the DVD drive and tried, same thing
6c. replaced RAM with RAM from another computer that I know is good - same result
6d. disconnected what appears to be the connection from the card slot into the motherboard and tried - same result.

Computer is running Windows XP...or at least was...

    Any other suggestions?
