I have a Travelmate 213TE with a failing display, but that works otherwise fine. I've inspected the screen for all visible defects and found that the cable - a 13.1" Falcon 2, part no. 50.40G07.302, rev. 002 - has cracks in the tape, but not through the wiring, so I don't think that's the source of the problem. When I apply pressure to the back of the monitor in the spot where the cable connects at top, the display goes normal.

I've unhooked that connector, blown air on it to make sure it's clean, and reconnected it - no dice.

Should I replace this cable? Can I do this by myself without soldering? Any help is appreciated by both myself and my pocketbook.
