multimedia audo controller issue

Hi all I have an HP laptop that am currently receiving no sound on i looked on my device manager and have an exlamation point on my mulitmedia audio controller i tried right clicking on it to update and it gave error name of drive is Conexant AC-link audio system says it cannot find the file specified please help!! it's a Altec Lansing hp pavilion zv6000 laptop windows xp anything at this point would be appreciated
