problem with network adapter

my linksys network adapter that was working on my VAIO stoped for some strange reason. in fact I can not install the device drivers anymore even though the PC detect the new hardware when I insert the card but can`t intall the drivers. the device manager shows error code 28.
what might be problem and how can fix it.
