RAM limit

    I have an old Gateway PC from around 2000 with three SDRAM slots which accept up to 128MB each. I'd like to try RAM with larger capacity than 128MB. Will I succeed in making the maximum capacity greater than 384MB? What are the possible negative effects of doing this (if any)?
